The Perfect You is a book covering far too large a concept to be contained in a single post, so this one will be a multi-post review! I am also only about halfway through the UQ assessment, as it is deep enough that I’ve been taking it a few questions at a time. This book comes out tomorrow, July 4th of 2017, and I could not be more excited to share it with you! Dr. Caroline Leaf’s books never disappoint. It is not a light read by any stretch of the imagination, but is more than worthwhile!
Filled with scientific evidence alongside references to scripture, this book has the backup to appeal to the religious and nonreligious alike as Dr. Leaf takes the reader on a journey to discover how the mind can affect the brain, and the way that neuroplasticity allows each of us to alter the way our brains function each day. “We are not just dancing to the tune of our DNA,” Leaf states, as she shows just how much power our choices have to teach our brains how to function. Our brains are constantly rewiring, changing the way our neurons connect and communicate, and it is within our minds that we have the opportunity to influence that — unlike many may think, our minds are in fact separate from our brains.
This is not a popcorn book, this is a book off to change your life! Whether you’re a STEM kind of person and love the quantum physics of it, or you’re more of a creative like me and enjoy the psychoanalytic part of it, this book will have a LOT to teach you about how your own innermost workings function on a day to day basis. Whether you’re looking for a better or easier way to make decisions, something to help you understand the way your brain works, or simply are curious about this whole Switch On Your Brain phenomenon, I cannot recommend this book enough. Pages upon pages of explanations, evidence, and probing questions to help you discover your own Perfect You will add to your life in ways you may have never expected.
